The Sewing Machine feat. Julia O'Connell

about

The Sound of a Sewing Machine Brings Memories, Joy and Sadness to a Collaboration Between Julia O’Connell and Harrison & Dunkley.

Julia O’Connell is a textile artist as well as co-founder of Coventry’s Theatre Absolute, the country’s only Shop Front Theatre. She is also the proud custodian of her grandmother’s sewing machine, powered by a treadle. She’d previously used the 1919 Singer treadle machine in a piece at the Shop Front Theatre, The Visible Maker, in 2015 and thought its distinctive sound would provide an interesting backdrop for Harrison & Dunkley.
